Oslo Spektrum has been an iconic part of Oslo’s landscape since its opening in 1990. Over the years, it has become more than just a venue – it’s a symbol of the city’s cultural heartbeat, hosting unforgettable concerts, international conferences, world-class exhibitions, and sporting events. Generations of Oslo residents and visitors alike have made lasting memories within these walls, and now, a completely new era is approaching for Oslo Spektrum.
The construction of a new, state-of-the-art arena is already underway, with completion set for the fall of 2028. This expansion represents one of the largest initiatives in the NOVA Spektrum Foundation’s history, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Oslo and its place on the international events map.
In the spring of 2025, NOVA Spektrum entered into a binding agreement with construction company HENT to further expand Oslo Spektrum with a new congress and cultural stage. This visionary project will solidify Oslo’s position as an attractive destination for both international and national congresses, conferences, concerts, and events. With the new Oslo Spektrum, we will offer even more experiences and events for everyone to look forward to – a place where history, culture, and innovation converge.
Our plans for the expansion have received widespread support from politicians, businesses, and the tourism industry in the capital. The ambition is clear: we aim to make Oslo Spektrum the Nordic region’s most attractive meeting place for business, cultural, and organizational life by the time it opens its doors in 2028.
Byhallen, located at the heart of the venue, will serve as the central meeting place for great food and drink experiences, further enhancing the unique atmosphere of the arena. Activities will take place every day, and with the new arena, we are creating a memorable experience for everyone who steps foot inside – an experience that celebrates the best of Oslo’s culture, nature, and hospitality.
